In the Classroom
Whether we are meeting face-to-face or in a virtual environment, my teaching style engages students in ways that help them to develop practical and theoretical tools to be successful in their lives and in their careers. I participate in ongoing pedagogical training to implement best practices in teaching and learning.
STUDENT REFLECTIONS
Mr. Oliveira was a phenomenal teacher. He engaged us in hands-on-learning and gave us a lot of freedom to write about topics that interest us. He was very knowledgeable about interdisciplinarity and was effective at communicating this knowledge in class. He also was very kind and understanding of our situation as college students and was able to work with us to achieve a learning environment that will benefit the class. (Fall 2019)

Incredibly insightful, knowledgeable, open minded, empathetic, and energetic in class. Motivates students to use sociology to better understand others and their situations to be more empathetic. Always on topic in class, always is prompt with grading and very clear of expectations via rubrics. (Summer 2019)
Mr. Oliveira is a professor who not only makes the course interesting, but he is one that provides opportunities for students to express their opinions, thoughts, and ideas openly. His instructions are clear and concise. He is always communicating with his students, and he responds to his students' questions and concerns quickly. (Summer 2019)
Mr. O is one of my favorite teachers I’ve ever had at USF. Even with him being busy in the PhD. program, he is sure to devote time to his students. He has proved that he has a passion for teaching. Thank you for a great semester. (Fall 2019)
