Kristopher A. Oliveira, PhD (he/him/his) is an award-winning sociologist, educator, author, and higher education leader whose work focuses on belonging, organizational change, and the experiences of Queer and Trans people in colleges and universities. He serves as Director of the LGBTQ+ Equity Center and is an affiliate faculty member in the Harriet Tubman Department of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies.
Kristopher has led LGBTQ+ resource centers and inclusion efforts at the University of Maryland, Princeton University, the University of Kansas, and St. Cloud State University. He earned a PhD in Sociology from the University of South Florida, and his scholarship examines the lives and outcomes of Trans and Queer (TQ) people in higher education, institutional and organizational life, race and ethnicity, and the professionals who build and sustain communities of belonging on college campuses. He is co-editor of Championing Queer & Trans Inclusion Beyond the Campus Resource Center (Routledge, 2026) and has published and presented nationally on TQ inclusion, the sociology of higher education, and social justice leadership.
Across his scholarship, consulting, and speaking, Kristopher brings together research, storytelling, and his professional experience to help institutions think more critically - and more imaginatively - about belonging, community, and institutional change. He believes that each of us can take responsibility and actions towards inclusion and belonging in service of sustaining communities.
